Re: Perfect MCAT score?
[ QUOTE ]
A highly intelligent person who by choice has spent a large chunk of your life away from biology or any other hard science. If it's my brain at stake, I think I'll take the over-achieving nerd with no life over the zen career-hopper. [/ QUOTE ] They'll both be equally good. Maybe the English PhD will be able to explain things better to the average patient and show more empathy. By the time you get to be a doctor diagnosing and treating cancer, you've made a pretty firm life commitment choice - not much career hopping then. I certainly didn't take 6 figures out in loans to screw around and switch careers later. |

Brag - 40-42 (13-15 verbal, 13 physics/chem, 14 bio/org chem) I rock at standardized tests (perfect 240 PSAT) and I studied really hard for this - 45 is practically impossible. This guy sounds like a winner. Good luck Roan - what residency are you aiming for? [/ QUOTE ] i'm doing general surg., couples matching with my fiance who is doing OB |

Re: Perfect MCAT score?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] He claims to have a triple major in Biochem, Physics and Business Admin from a very good small college in NYC. Also says that he won the top student award in his first year of med school at different but also very good med school in NYC (no mention of graduating med school). [/ QUOTE ] He didn't send you his transcripts? Shouldn't that be standard? [/ QUOTE ] No it's not standard at all for someone who has been out of college for more than 2 years (at least in the field of software development). |

[/ QUOTE ] However, it's very standard for good interviewers to request that transcripts be provided when the information on which a hiring decision would be based is contained therein. |

Re: Perfect MCAT score?
I work for the Princeton Review and had my boss call our MCAT guru. The MCAT is scored on a curve in such a way that doing perfectly on the test still will not likely yeield a perfect score of 45. A 45 also requires that another test-taker score a 1. If the lowest score was a 3, for instance, the highest possible score is only 43.

Re: Perfect MCAT score?
What you say cannot be true. It is not possible to score a 1. The lowest score possible is 3.
Your claim would suggest that the four sections are not scored independently. There is nothing in the nature of a bell curve that requires outliers to be matched. Either your MCAT guru didn't understand your question, you didn't understand his answer, or he is no guru. |
