Wow people went easier on OP than I thought.

Dude! It was a GREAT story! Of course some of us are going to go easy on him! If only more trip reports were written this well!

PS: anyone who took this thread seriously needs to lighten up.

I thought it was an entertaining story too (although maybe less so if I'd been at the table), I didn't mean "went easier on him" in the sense of not making fun of his post, I mean "went easier on him" for his actions at the table. Of course then I read the post about the grease fire...

Considering you probably screwed him out of at least $5 in tokes with all the stalling, the least you could do is pay up. If a co-worker in my card room was slowing up the game I was dealing, I would be pissed, regardless of the bet. Might as well just steal money from my wallet basically.

Give the dealer his $5 then get fired by the floor for intentionally trying to slow down a game and the drop it is collecting. Since you can't be fired for this you will be charged with sexual harassment until you are pressured into quitting.

I'm taking a lot of heat for slowing the game down. I should be clear that I hardly made a dent in the ponderous pace of this game. Did all of you miss the part where the first three hands took 11 minutes? Or that the previous three hands had taken 15 minutes? If you made a list of players who were slowing down the game, I wouldn't crack the top five.

The "call the floor" debate lasted about 15 seconds.

The "call for a set-up" took 0 seconds off the clock. I did not stop the game to ask the question, and the dealer did not need to stop what he was doing to say, "No." My discussion with the floorman about the set-up did not occur while I had cards. Nobody who had cards was paying any attention to us.

With the exception of the 15-second "call the floor" debate with the dealer, I never took more than 2 seconds to act on my hand when it was my turn. I wanted to, but didn't have the nerve to stall the game that way. Obviously, since the final result was 11 hands, I could've easily gotten a push, or maybe even a win, if I had lowered myself to such tactics. But I'm not the scoundrel you all seem to think that I am.

Wow, I can't believe I actually read the whole thing. You're an [censored] if you didn't pay the guy. I think you were dirty for asking for the set-up in the first place.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't tell if you are serious or not. The bet was made in good fun, and it was only a $5 bet. I wouldn't go high and right. I voted you pay the man. You tried to slow it down. He tried to speed it up. He won. I thought it was a good read. I actually laughed out loud for a solid minute when I read that you called for a set-up. That's one of my biggest pet peeves at the poker table, but I think I actually would have called for it with you just for the pure humor value.
