Leno vs. Letterman

Anyone who thinks Leno is funny and/or is a good late night host either has no sense of humor or is really, really old.

a) He can't tell a joke to save his life. Muresan hit it on the head early in this thread. Leno tells a joke which may or may not be funny, but then he kills it by reiterating the punch line for another 30 seconds. Yes, Jay, we get it. Even when he does his "headlines" bit, which is pretty good, he just destroys every joke by carrying it on too long.

b) He makes almost every guest, particularly the women, extremely uncomfortable. Horrible, horrible interviewer.

When Leno was just a good, old stand-up comedian, he was pretty damn funny. Now he's just lame.

I'm not saying Letterman is awesome, but Leno is the bottom of the barrel.

I haven't read the thread, but my opinion is that Letterman is really funny and Leno is really not at all.

sure, Leno has more jokes, but Letterman does more with 2 minutes of material than anyone else in TV. he turns those 2 minutes into 10-15 minutes every night and is still funnier than Leno's 5 minutes of material, followed by segments.

Leno is absolutely atrocious. Completely un-funny, awful interviewer, annoying to look at.

The only reason his show is rated higher than Dave's is b/c he's in LA, and pulls better celebs on a consistent basis. (Hot chicks).

Dave blows Jay out of the water in every category. Smarter, funnier, way better interviewer, better ad-libber, more audience chemistry, etc.
