Default Re: trip report: depositing a $175,000 check from Stars

I took my check from Stars directly to the US Bank in my town. I don't have an account with them, but was patient, showed all ID and let them have my thumbprint and I got out of there with my $11,000 and change on the spot.

Whole process took about 10 minutes.

Side note: I asked about their investment opps and they had a chick try and set up an appointment with me. I have no intention of investing with them, but I think it greased the wheels a little...

Yes.

When I deposited my T-Stone check, it took a few minutes and showed up in my account in less than 2 days.

I wonder if Full Tilt will send me a check for 50k so I don't play 50/100 anymore...

I cashed a $400 pokerstars check almost a year ago at my local credit union and they gave me a big runaround over such a small amount of money. I guess the chexx inc. checks don't actually say what bank the money is coming from so they had to make a few phone calls while interrogating me over who sent the check(obviously a web design payment.. sheesh). They basically told me over and over it didn't have a good chance of going through like it was monopoly money which I laughed at. They ended up putting a 10 business day hold on it(ended up being 15 days because of a holiday) before it reached my account. I took my next one($2000) to Bank of America and they deposited it into my account without questions; They put a 15% few day hold on the money but I could withdrawal the rest if I needed.

Why is everyone cashing out their stars bankrolls?

--also, when I cashed out money from stars, I just put it into a deposit envelope and put it into my ATM, never had any problems

There is a national check clearing law that gives banks only a few days to clear a check under most circumstances. You are getting a runaround.

Everyone at our local branch knows my dad, whenever he walks into the bank, people come out of their offices to greet him, ask him questions etc. We don't like paying the conversion fees, so we just get whatever I cash out in cash, and he just trades it with people at his work for Canadian dollars.(lots of people buy cars in buffalo since they are WAY cheaper, and lots of people go on expensive vacations).

Despite dozens of customers in the bank, every one who works there now knows his name, and he has overheard people talking about him several times since he is one of the few people that comes in asking for large amounts of US cash on a regular basis; he always tells him he is going to vegas.

Beat: people think my dad is a huge baller
Brag: have saved more money doing this than I have spent on purchases I wouldn't have made if I weren't a poker player

Yeah but carrying around 200k would've made me a bit nervous.
