I'm wondering, for you lawyers and CC-licensed guys out there, can you use a firearm to detain suspects until police arrive? If, for example, OP had run outside pointing a licensed 9mm at the kids [censored] with his mailbox and screaming, "Don't move!" would he be innocent of any crime in the eyes of the law? Or would he be guilty of some sort of unlawful making-people-wait, or something?

I believe that would be assault. It would also be stupid, probably escalating the situation from relatively harmless property destruction to where someone could get seriously hurt. And finally, you're not Jack Bauer; you don't point a gun at someone unless you intend to kill them.

Thats why you use a black cap gun with a 1/4 inch maroon/brown tip. Especially at dark. It's not illegal, and it will make those kids drop some wicked dueces in their undies.

My grandpa did the same thing but with a red ryder BB gun with the red tip broken off. Cops thanked him cause the little dbags were keying cars at night. this happened years ago though.

But 2 years ago I was arrested for having a toy rifle in a park. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A MAROON OR LIGHT BROWN TIP!!!!!

Load up some rock salt and gravel for your 12 guage. Load two of those first and one buckshot just in case. Fire from the window. Don't go downstairs.

Also, lecture the wife to know that "call the police" means now.

Good luck.
