I think he could definitely score 50, probably at will. I could see him busting for 70+ on occasion.

Guys, Arenas scores 50 from time to time against NBA teams. Of course 50 is attainable against Duke.

Are you guys forgetting that Maravich averaged 45 points in college? All he was trying to do was score. Now imagine how much he would average if he went back to college after a couple years in the NBA.

The college game was much different then. Look at the old films and research the old scoring averages. Scoring was up, up, up. Defenses couldn't clog the game up as much as they can now. Teams didn't have numerous great athletes to use to defend an opponent. Apples and oranges comparing that time period to current college basketball.

many less possessions in a college game. Much less than the 1/6 less time would suggest due to shot clock and game flow. Also, the ability to play team defense verse individual defense is huge.

Alright, let's just assume that ever single possession Arenas just dribbled up and pulled from 25 feet out.

How many shots would he get off? How many would he make?

You're saying he wouldn't hit 15? If he pulled on every single possession?

Arenas now >>>>> Big Dog Robinson in college.

exactly, and its not even remotely close. Arenas now is 10x better than Robinson was IN HIS PRIME and 100x better than he was in college. And if Robinson could AVERAGE 30, then Arenas would probably average 45-50. So his high games would be around 80 imo.

Let's not go overboard. Arenas is much better than Robinson, but once you get that good it's hard to be THAT much better than anybody else.

you are semi-correct. I listen to the PTI podcasts on my way to work. He didn't say on the show he'd go for 80 points against Duke. They just asked him how he'd get revenge on Coach K, and he said he'd give up a season of the NBA to go play in college to stick it to him.

Also, Gilbert says "you know" every 3 words or so.

If Arenas is 100x better wouldn't he average 3000 pts per game?
