Re: Official 2006-2007 College Hockey Thread
we may have had a quick start, but it was made starkly evident that Cornell is still a very, very young team without the experience and know-how yet to win everytime they should win.
[censored] losing to Wayne State. At least they get right back on the horse today at 2. The one good thing may be that yesterday's loss was the type of game that Schafer is great at making an example of with his team and using as a turning point for a season. |

Re: Official 2006-2007 College Hockey Thread
We have been fairly inconsistent in the early going. As I said in previous post, we are VERY freshman/sophomore heavy (emphasis on the freshman). All of our goalies, previous to this year, have seen a grand total of ZERO NCAA action. (Well, maybe Davenport saw 10 mins a couple years ago in a couple blowouts, but that's it).
Traditionally, a young team being molded by Coach Schafer will struggle early on, and then really kick it into gear after the new year. We drop the puck in 5 mins or so, and apparantly on the pre-game show Schafer mentioned there are "several" healthy scratches. Again, as I said in the previous post, Coach will not take last night's loss lightly, and the team will be getting that message loud and clear in the coming weeks, I am sure. |

Being the play-by-play guy was always a dream for me as a little kid. How did you make the transition from student-radio to the main station? That is very impressive, you must have been good! Also, did you ever consider trying to continue that career, maybe transitioning to doing NHL games?

Saint Lawrence is 4-0-0 in ECAC, in third place with 4 games in hand against the 1rst place team and 5 games in hand against the second. They have also already beaten the first and second place teams.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm getting self-concious of hijacking this thread which is really supposed to be about following this specific college-hockey season. I just got all excited when I saw a college-hockey thread since it was obviously a passion of mine at one time. I've decided to do the ultra-vain thing and start a new thread to respond to your Q's about my background/career. link |

Re: Official 2006-2007 College Hockey Thread
Trying to keep things going here (and because I am on a posting tear and can't stomach talking BCS anymore), let's talk hockey. Michigan is back into a funk after a nice 7 game run. The Minnesota game was bad but not unexpected, and could be justified by saying long week/tough games/road, etc (to the extent we got killed, not losing, they're obviously better regardless).
But then the team comes out and lays an egg at home against Western. Sauer let in few soft goals, another off a very crappy clearing effort, a bad 2-on-1, and there you go. Cogliano gets a hat trick but all for naught. A 6-5 win on the road doesn't do much to make me feel better. Two bad home losses now (Northeastern and WMU) are bringing this team down and are going to hurt come seeding time. |
