now TWP posts an aim conversation i just had with him without asking me. are there any repercussions for something like this?

So, when its your private stuff, its not ok to post it... interesting...

[/ QUOTE ]

it's a conversation, not a collection of public data.

[/ QUOTE ]

and this would be another difference.

The difference between you and Daryn is that while you knowingly broke rules you had recently told others about in this forum (and have failed to admit to same), Daryn is asking what the appropriate action is.

[/ QUOTE ]

If he *'d someone with a custom title, he broke a rule...

That, however, was not the point.

not true. if that were true, then custom titles would basically be * immunity.

Based on the new rules, custom titles should = * immunity

fwiw, if a poster was awarded a custom title by a mod of another forum, that should be a clue to the OOT mods that poster is contributing somewhere in a positive way, and they should be handled by PM discussion, rather than a quick *ing, in any event, imho.

Of course, it would help if mods noted in user notes when they put in a cutom title

sniper,

if you don't understand the difference between posting an IM conversation and posting your data, once again, you're clearly not fit to be a mod. posting IM data is much closer to posting someone's myspace info than to posting your site data. attempting to bring more things back to your fit about that data really isn't going to make your case any better.

daryn,

no, it would be immunity from * undertitles, not from *s. as has been discussed, there are several other ways of implementing the * system that don't involve messing with people's titles. again, since it's been done previously for people on request i don't see a great reason why the default shouldn't be what is done for people for "favors."

Just so we're clear:

- banning a poster for posting something that was posted in this forum in a forum you don't mod is not overstepping your bounds and breaking the rules specifically prohibiting this (which were in place before this week).

- but giving guys with custom titles stars is?

Your stunning lack of common sense is absolutely unbelievable.

Stars should just be added to custom titles. It makes sense. OOT gets to dole out punishment without pissing off other mods.

BTW I didn't leave a note, but I gave all posters with less than 25 posts the custom title "stranger." I also gave people the following custom titles:
newbie
journeyman
member
enthusiast
addict
old hand
veteran
Pooh-Bah
Carpal \'Tunnel

If any mod wishes to give a custom title to anyone with a title above, they must pm me to get permission.

Cit, posting IM conversations is done all the time in OOT... are you saying that this shouldn't be allowed?

i haven't read the * faq sticky thing in a while, but is it something like this:

you get a star you get temp banned from oot or whatever, you get 2, same you get 3 exile?

if so, i really don't see why it needs to go in undertitle.

alright movie time
