In school I used to take pickle sandwiches for lunch every day - Raspbery jam and sweet pickles (not dills!!). Yeh, I was going for effect, but it's actually quite good.
As kids, we used to make "sugar sandwiches" (actually open -faced sandwiches). One slice of bread, butter or margarine and then cover with white sugar. And mother used to wonder why we were always hyper.... Also "dough-balls". Slice of (white) bread. Remove crusts. Roll/squish the bread up into a ball/wad of dough. Roll this around in the butter/margarine. When I was a broke-ass student, I used to eat a lot of potatos. One of my favorites was to slice them up really thin, like potato chips, and fry them up in oil until crispy. Then I'd dip them in a cheese sauce made from a powdered mix like this: |
