I saw an interview with Dutch Boyd where he said that his friends calculated that Hachem had a 22% chance of surviving the 5 or so all-ins up to the last hand.
He was saying that he figured Hachem wouldn't want to make any embarrassing all-in calls, so he decided to put a ton of pressure on him when Boyd had the chip lead. I'd say there were a lot of hands where Boyd's agression picked up a lot of pots. interview |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] -EV is -EV. Getting all-in with the worst hand every time banking on getting lucky at some point is terrible poker. [/ QUOTE ] You are very very wrong. [/ QUOTE ] Really? Generally, the last time you go all-in on a -EV play, if it's for all your stack, it's a very bad decision. The fact that you failed to suck out the last 4 times doesn't make it more likely that you will suck out this time. [/ QUOTE ] DERRRRR! He didnt say it was more likely he'd win the 4th one. He said its really unlucky he didnt win ANY of them. You are bad at the maths. |

He said its really unlucky he didnt win ANY of them. You are bad at the maths. [/ QUOTE ] The answer to "is it possible to be wrong AND insulting at the same time?" is "sadly, yes." Bottom line is, his decisions needed to be made based on the hand he was playing at the time, PERIOD. Any crap about "I figured it only takes one suckout" is not just irrelevant, it's only an excuse for his repeatedly getting his money in with the worst of it. Boyd was clearly outclassed at that table. Trying to make it seem like a STRATEGY just makes him look stupid on top of it. |
