Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
[ QUOTE ]
There are generally two types of frats 1. Party animal frats (keggers, toga parties, strippers, etc.) Think Animal House 2. Elitest, all white, rich frats, Think P.C.U. These frats are very common in the South. 1 is cool, 2 is gay. [/ QUOTE ] as a University of Georgia grad....I can back this argument up. You are right on the money. |

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
Well I've lived my whole live in the deep South, my dad was in a frat and both my sisters in sororities, all at deep South schools.
Anyone who wears a blazer and tie to a 103 degree football game has serious issues. |

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
frats have it backwards. you're supposed to meet people at class, in the dorms, at parties, etc., become friends, and THEN decide to get a place and live together.

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
I find it funny that quite a few people responding to anti-frat posters are only reinforcing the stereotypes. "HAHA OF COURSE YOU HATE FRATS YOU FAT GEEK, GUESS YOU DON'T LIKE GETTING LAID BY HOT BITCHES" isn't a really compelling argument.
TheAnswer is the only person who has reponded at length who actually seems cool. (Oh, and my school didn't have Greeks. It did have people who wished it did and acted accordingly, which is to say filled all the worst, most insufferable stereotypes about frat brothers.) |

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
If you're really interested in joining the fraternity, go back and talk to them. There could be a myriad of different reasons for why they didn't give you a bid. Depending on whatever stupid-ass system the school makes them go by, you might have had to attend a minimum number of events. There might have been too many brothers that didnt get to know you well enough to decide if they wanted to live with you. They may have thought you weren't interested and thus they became uninterested, or they might just think you're not a good fit for their house. It may be one of these or a dozen other reasons.
Go up to one of them, ask them about the bids (preferably the recruitment chair). If they are total [censored] about it, you have the wrong house and should try to find a better fit elsewhere. Also, you might want to check out the other houses on campus. |

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] i [censored] hate frats. i want to kill them. [/ QUOTE ] most people who cling to stereotypes and hate things they know next to nothing about DO hate fraternities. im in a fraternity, do you want to kill me? before you answer that, remember that you don't even know me. or anyone in my fraternity. you might have a glimpse of .001% of fraternities and not like it. fine, whatever, don't join. i certainly wouldn't look down on you for that because it certainly isn't for everyone. people who judge a group as a whole based on an extremely limited set of knowledge make me sick. [/ QUOTE ] dunno, it seems i've had annoying experiences when dealing with frat boys, so scru 'em... |

Re: Beat: Rejected by frat.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not NAMBLA but I know they're gay. You don't have to belong to an organization to know what they're all about. [/ QUOTE ] QFT. Lolz at these doods comparing being in a frat to being black or jewish or some [censored]. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule, and there are 'anti-frat' frats, and there are many guys who join just to have business connections in the future, but there is a world of difference between making judgements and generalizations about frats and about the two latter groups. |
