Colonel
As a general phenomenon you are correct, this kind of thing happens on both sides of the coin and it's disturbing. I just get a bit prickly when everyone starts using anecdotes or apocryphals or second-hand stuff to illustrate their point. I agree with you in principle, probably more than most people around here. You're equating a natural disaster with a criminal act. |

Re: Amazing what my class had to say about 9/11
I'm sure many people were appalled by the muslim woman's comments but no one dared say anything because of the PC environments at most schools. Everyone's afraid to criticize any member of a racial or ethnic minority for any reason for fear of being labeled a bigot.
OP--This is from Martin Luther King, Jr.: [ QUOTE ] History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. [/ QUOTE ] |

Who knows if this story is true...sounds made up. Even if she has different beliefs from you...get over it. You believe things that aren't true about the US government yourself.

Are you seriously trying to equate 9/11 with natural disasters? Terrible things like 9/11, when a bunch of religous nutjobs murder 3,000 innocent people, don't happen all the time. That's really one of the more brainless posts I've ever seen. |

[/ QUOTE ] it was just highlighting how terrible things can be in the world, US and other 1st world citizens live a spoiled life, many thousands of people die daily to very preventable diseases, look at how AIDS is destroying Africa, and how the first world is not doing nearly as much as they could be to fix the situation |

Re: Amazing what my class had to say about 9/11
[ QUOTE ]
So an authority figure suggests that an absurd relationship "could" be true. Then somebody on the extreme end of the political spectrum recognizes that it is benificial to her cause, immediately believes it without credible proof and starts telling everybody its the truth. Then, the 70% of people that are sheep, "say uh, ok, it sounds reasonable." And you, the informed minority who knows how absurd the suggestion is, are too chickenshit to say anything. Sounds kind of like how we ended up in Iraq. [/ QUOTE ] WORD! |
