Seriously, relocate to Canada. Incorporate yourselves as poker players. 18% corporate tax rate. Full-on budy contact in strip clubs. Cheap cost of living. Plenty of card rooms. Too cold in winter? Effin fly to the tropics or Vegas in winter, then. Bring plenty of Marlboros though. That's the only thing Canada's missing. And that was the whine part of this post! [/ QUOTE ] Mmmmmmmm, that sounds good. I'll have that. |

how ironic, legislation passes 2 days before the biggest tournament in online history (WCOOP me). [/ QUOTE ] it wont affect the tournament at all, other than the possible effect of people being freaked out and deciding not to play because they hear its illegal now. that would be really disappointing. |

also, dont hate on berkley. she has no other option, really. she can't "cast a vote for terrorists" -- she is against the bill on principle because of the pork, but the legislative session is closing so it's either pass it now or don't pass it at all. it's really depressing and infuriating that that is the case, and the fact that it is the case is exactly why the shady republicans tacked the [censored] onto the bill in the first place -- because they knew there was nothing the dems could do about it.
im seriously seriously seriously considering looking at masters/PHD program in england and canada. i always wanted to travel more anyway. also, i encourage you guys to read the legislative forum. it's possible it's not the end of the world. BEST CASE SCENARIO, the ISP prohibition is only against ISPs hosting poker sites on their own web service, and the funding prohibition still allows services like Neteller to function. this is still a possibility, it just depends on how the legislation is interpreted by the executive agency in charge of enforcing it and by the courts. WORST CASE SCENARIO, our ISPs don't allow us to log on, and they do a crackdown job of making it near impossible to deposit into online sites. the reality will likely be somewhere in the middle, but there is little that can be done at this point, and we will have to just wait and see. i agree that online poker being banned would really really [censored] with my sort of "five year plan" and make me rethink a lot of stuff. |
