Kobe. I can't even root for the Lakers anymore. I will be a Lakers fan again when he is off the team in ten years.

How could you hate Cesar Izturis? He works hard, plays hard, doesn't say much, is phenomenal defensively, and decent at the plate.

I grew up as a huge Orioles fan in the '80s. I had a deep and completely inexplicable hatred for utility infielder Rene Gonzalez. I swear he had the most innoportune at bats. He was the master of the poorly timed double play, error with the bases loaded, and strike out in the bottom of the ninth.

I remember flipping out one year listening to Joe Angel and John Miller doing a pre-season show. They were saying that there probably wasn't room on the team for both Gonzalez and my hero, and still my favorite player of all time, Joe Orsulak. The thought that Orsulak might be traded to make room for Rene just pissed me off to no end.

i've defended hendry for awhile on the basis of his trades for aramis, lee, and nomar (it was a good trade no matter how it turned out). at this point it's clear he has no idea how to properly work the free agent or free talent streams. i think he is much better suited to an advisor position where he can help craft creative trades, without signing the free agent middle class to deals for too much money and too many years, while not making a big splash.
