I dunno about you, but when I limp-call with AQ (rare) and the flop comes Q high - I usually tend to pay attention...

Pay attention enough to block or value bet the river? Working out villain's (hero's) range, etc.?

The pot is 1/2 of my stack at this point, so WHY WOULD I PAY ATTENTION... Of COURSE not.

OK, maybe villain just isn't that good, or made a misktake or is watching TV, and is in c/call mode without thinking that he could block or bet the river.

It doesn't change the fact that hero is unlikley to be ahead.

I like this line. I think this is a situation where most tournament players tend to fold preflop or limp preflop and then fold on the flop. They do this not because it's the right play, but because they're bad at playing later streets and want to stay out of trouble.

Tournaments=good for learning PF and flop play
Cash games=good for learning turn and river play

Preflop is not "standard"...nothing should be standard for good players, and I would play this way some % of the time, I would limp some % of the time, and fold some % of the time as well...so commenting on the preflop decision is useless, so long as there is a plan for the flop and turn etc,

sheets

This weak-tight donk here is interested in the reasoning behind folding QJs any percentage of the time with stacks this deep. Please elaborate. Thanks.

-Why the funny bet sizes (588, 1144)?

Partypoker slider = teh suck

Also, this hand is really standard. Most people probably wouldn't bet river, but why not? This is early...people will call down with ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. As we've said, the only hands we're worried about are AQ/KQ, and those are a very small part of a limp/callers range. I expect to see something like Q7s here often enough.

I don't have enough game to add to the strategy in this post. I think the bet sizes were entered with a number pad. 255 up the middle, 588 up the middle, 1444 on the side.

Might take a former Dukie to see it, though.

-D.

Strassa,

I might use that amazing resource called thepokerdb to make sure that villain is awful as we are assuming.

However, I play this hand the same as you did against your average PP MTT donk.
