They managed to give him an MVP.

I'm pretty sure that everybody who has ever met Jeff Kent hates him.

And Steve Carlton was hated by the media, and he got in rather easily.

Kent's numbers as a 2B are impressive.

They should put A-Rod in without a hat.

I doubt Kent gets in.

[/ QUOTE ]
The only 2Bs with a higher OPS+ than Kent are Lajoie, Eddie Collins, Hornsby, Jackie Robinson, Joe Morgan and Rod Carew. There are 15 2Bs in the Hall that have a lower OPS+ than Kent. And if they don't let Kent in right away, he will smite the baseball writers with his powerful mustache. I think he gets in.

[/ QUOTE ]
Don't all the writers despise him?

[/ QUOTE ]

Didn't stop them from voting for non-shoe-ins like Dave Winfield and Eddie Murray.

Good point. It looks like I'm probably wrong.

If he plays 5+ more years with the Yankees would you still feel this way?

Piazza should have his hat turned backwards. After all, he is getting in due in large part to the fact that he played catcher.

Either that was an unfunny joke, or a pointless statement about his defense. I'm not sure which.

Piazza should go in as a Dodger imo. Without a doubt his best years came as a Dodger and he should've won an MVP at least once in those years (95/96/97).

[/ QUOTE ]

This is what I think as well, but I'm a west coast guy. Will someone from the group that Pizza will go in as a Met and it isnt close explain why?

I said he would go as a Met, but I think it's very close. As I said, my main reasoning is that he went to a World Series and gained more notariety with the Mets. I definitely understand the case for LA though, and I would not consider that opinion to be wrong.
