how the hell is the fall of Rome not on this list? and Constantines legalization of christianity and accepting of the religion is way more significant that anything of Christ's life.

[/ QUOTE ]

The fall of Rome was such a gradual thing and really didn't completely disappear until the Turks conquered Constantinople.

On the other hand, I couldn't decide who was more influential as far as Christianity, Constantine or St. Paul.
St. Paul got the whole thing rolling so I give him the nod. But it's a toss up.

what about an argument for the nulcear and neutron bombs, these are the two single most destructive weapons created in the history of human kind. They have been a constant threat since their inception and will be until something worse comes along, which will probably be quite a while. and the scientific relevence of nuclear power, which has altered space travel and energy creation im many nations

Obviously the abolition of slavery didnt happen in one specific moment world wide, and its true that slavery exists still to this day.

However, the moment that the west realised that slavery was wrong and thus made illegal was a pretty huge point on the map for the human race.

america != world, this event may be important, but nowhere near top 5 most important events in last 2100 years. Hell, there is a great deal of immigrant labor in the US which is border-line slavery anyway. in the most sincere honesty, and this in no way condones slavery, but the US may easily have never taken off if it never instituted slavery.

There is no point on the map. Canada outlawed slavery in the 1790s and officially got rid of it in the 1820sish. France outlawed it, reinstituted it and reoutlawed it from 1790s to the 1830s. Spain and Portugal were still unofficially supporting slave trading long after they "abolished" it. Britain outlawed it in the 1830s. The US outlawed it in the 1860s and Native Americans held slaves after that. Cuba and Brazil didn't outlaw it until almost the turn of the century.

So, you're saying a century is an event?
