Excellent post, Curtains.
It's hard to believe that in 30 years or whatever of tournament play, this situation is still unresolved. Also, doesn't the same situation arise in NL cash games? I don't see anything addressing it in either the TDA rules or Ciaffone's rules. If anything, both of those sets of rules can be read as presuming that when someone makes an allin bet, all the player's chips should be pushed forward (unless I've overlooked something). |

When I announced all in this week at Bellagio, the dealer always said to push at least one stack out. They said it was so the cameras could follow the action, I guess it helps in times like this as well. Tough break.

I have to highly disagree with the consensus here. It's your responsibility to know what's going on at the table. If you don't it's your own problem not the dealers. I know I could easily make that mistake but it's not the dealers job to tell you all the action leading up to you if you weren't paying attention. (in fact I think it'd be wrong for a dealer to do this because if you aren't paying attention why should you now know what people did) T3o push=exit--you can't blame anyone other than yourself for this. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is about right. everyone needs to be responsible for themselves. peace billyb |

Ok wheatrich, let's say you are in a crowded poker room, it is actually fairly loud in there, and you are in a seat that you can't see some of the other players(there are a few seats like this), and everybody is folding until it gets to you in the SB, you look and see no chips have been moved AT ALL, you look and can't see cards in anybody's hand, HOW THE F&$* would you know that the other player was all in? You can't see his cards, you didn't hear him/dealer say all-in, and his chips HAVEN'T MOVED. If I can't see cards in anybody's hands, and no chips are in the pot besides the blinds/antes I would figure I was HU against the BB. The only possible way I could know whether or not somebody THAT I CAN'T SEE had folded or moved all in would be to ask him every single hand whether or not he moved all in this hand. You have to understand at a real casino if you are in a bad seat you physically CANNOT see the other player/his cards, unlike online where they are sitting right there for all to see.
That is all John |
