I went to Coconut Creek and the other Seminole in Hollywood on Friday and it was still the normal rake that they always have...did they change it this weekend? If so I'm not sure its even worth it to play since I play tight

Almost all 2/5NL exclusively at Pompano Park. Will doubtfully return after checking the action at a better casino Sat night. Awesome!

I plan on taking some shots at the 5/10, I don't mind the variance if it is really the goldmine described.

Will be shocked if my 2/5 winrate is not $70/hour after 500 hours.

I played horrendously in the 1st 100 hours in this regard:

Underestimated the value of keeping my stack. Rebuying to $100 sucks after making a speculative/move with a $850 stack and losing it. I have fixed that leak. On the plus side, you can't tilt off a rack after taking a beat.

Would be interested in grabbing a beer with any Pompano or Seminole regular 2+2ers.

I was there Friday and Saturday. They just started it Saturday afternoon. Trust me there is a time charge of $6 per 1/2 hour.

I play pretty tight as well. There really is no need to gamble to beat that game. The time charge is certainly more expensive then the rake. However, I still think given the poor play that it is profitable.

The higher games play more like Yahtzee from what I have seen and heard.

Coconut Creek is still $1-5 rake and noone said anything about change as of 3am Monday Morning. As this is
my regular place and I would be horrified if they did this, I'll ask them tonight or tommorow when I go next.
I REALLY hope they do not do this.

Apparently the dealers can't sustain an average of 20 hands an hour otherwise there'd be no need to switch to a time charge. What insults me the most is that while we're paying the time charge we're also paying for dealer trays to be restocked every 5 hands and players to rebuy every few hands they play. I'd be okay with the time charge if it weren't for the fact that most of the dealers are incapable of running the game smoothly coupled with the constant need to replenish either players stacks or dealer trays.

The poker situation in South Florida is still awful, in my opinion, and I've pretty much avoided it ever since the high stakes games were shut down a month ago. I went out to play 1/2NL once since that date and that was just a waste of time and energy.

We can only hope the negotiations currently underway between the State and the Semniole tribe includes verbiage to allow high stakes poker games along with all the other concessions they are asking for.

I think the time charge at Hard Rock Hollywood is an anomaly. They have a property that draws people in whether or not they play poker, so they don't mind if they lose a few regulars. While I haven't checked, I expect that their sister property the bingo is probably not charging time.

Personally, I cannot play time because it will significantly increase my tilt factor if I spend more than two hours cold-decking and paying 6$. Even the act of collecting the time charge itself seems to take an eternity when the dealer doesn't have things under control.

Slow dealers are a problem everywhere here, not just at the Hard Rock. And it's not going to get any better until the rooms start instituting a policy that new players must buy chips at the cashier window before sitting at the table and until the dealers learn to eyeball the tray while he's standing there waiting to take his turn at a table. Every time a new dealer sits at a table, he takes a couple of minutes to count and re-organize the tray. And then taking the time to sell chips to players every other hand and then having to get their trays reloaded every table shift eats up several minutes every half-hour, even at the limit tables.

Like CybrPunk, I've pretty much stopped going again after being excited for about the first week or so of July. The rooms are still very poorly managed, customer service at all the rooms is horrible and you spend nearly as much time waiting for the dealers to get organized and sell chips as you actually do playing hands. It's just not worth the time and effort.

I only played at the Ebro room for a couple hours but all the dealers we had were pretty smooth and quick. No delays at all. They kept the game moving and were MUCH better than I ever would have expected.

I wouldn't be a big fan of switching to a time-charge if that's something they decided to do up here but if the dealers continued to move things along decently I wouldn't have TOO much of a problem with it.
