Re: who wins the AL cy young this year?
[ QUOTE ]
Note this luck also applies to hitters as well which is why every now and then you'll see a fluke like Posada win the batting title. [/ QUOTE ] |

has there ever been a cy young winner that "ran bad"? of course haren or buehrle are somewhat lucky, or else they wouldnt be in the discussion. [/ QUOTE ] My running good comment was in relation to Buehrle's contract, not his MVP chances. As for Haren, I was just speculating about why so many people voted for other people. |

Re: who wins the AL cy young this year?
[ QUOTE ]
I really hope that somehow Daisuke will end up with the most wins and a ~4.5 era. [/ QUOTE ] Dice-K pitches in Fenway and Manny is one of his outfielders. ERA isn't the best way to judge a pitcher. |

[/ QUOTE ] It means he thinks he would do a better job voting for the Cy Young then the people who get to vote, which isn't saying much because they are just writers. |

Re: who wins the AL cy young this year?

Which isn't saying much because they are just idiots. [/ QUOTE ] There are some travesties against humanity that go down. You can make a legit case that the MVP last year was the 4th best player on his team. A pretty air tight one that he is 3rd best. And then you see people with votes write stuff like: "MVPs are for middle of the order mashers." |

[/ QUOTE ] Its not 'collective wisdom' its a bunch of sportswriters. And there is absolutely no reason to think sportswriters are more capable of voting for this award than SE posters, and a lot of evidence to the contrary. First off, they are far more biased than we are. Second, they are far more retarded. |

Re: who wins the AL cy young this year?
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not a big baseball guy at all, so forgive me if I come across as ignorant in this discussion. Also I'm an O's fan, so I'd like to see Bedard get it. But after looking at the stats, I can't comprehend how its possible that 55 out of 74 people did NOT vote for Haren. What am I missing here? [/ QUOTE ] The question. It's "Who wins the AL Cy Young this year?", NOT "Who deserves AL Cy Young this year?" Note the difference. |

As of right now I don't see Santana getting this.
My top 3 in no order right now are Beckett Bedard Haren. -Brendan |
