Its not a collaspe untill they actually blow it

It's pretty close.
This Mets team does not look that confident and the Phillies look full of life.

According to Baseball Prospectus, if the Mets complete the collapse it would be the 2nd worst in baseball history from a pure probabilistic viewpoint.

Top 4-5 all time, the 78' Red Sox and the 64' Phillies certainly qualify. Throw in the 95' Angels for good measure.

While you can never be that confident in the Phils, the Mets collapse with a 7-game lead this late in the season would be a record.

And some of those losses have been painfully ugly, like the collapse last night.

Not nearly anything as 'unlucky' as raw rookie Chico Ruiz stealing home in a tie game with *** Frank Robinson *** at the plate.

The Phils also lost a game right before that one on a steal of home in the 16th inning, 4-3. How painful those two must have been in such a short time span is hard to imagine.

Blowing a 5 run lead, looked epecially ugly. Then having Wagner give up two more in the top of the ninth really sucked.

This is worse than Red Sox or Phils, lead was bigger with 17 to play and 4 teams make NL playoffs this year, not 2. Even with 2 extra slots they are still in danger of choking it away.

Curious, are they factoring in the 2 extra playoff spots, or just looking at W/L record?

% to make playoffs basis. So recent times are leading to more ridiculous collapses, being like 20 games over 500 early means you're 90% to get it and whatnot.

This collapse is epic. I hated listening to those [censored] Met fans bury the Yanks all summer long on talk radio. They seem to forget the season is 162 games long. I have resisted posting on the 2007 NL East MY Mets thread until its official. My Entire Team Sucks. LOL

Because you are mad that a bunch of retard Mets fans called into the FAN early in the summer you feel the need to torment the 15 or so Mets fans on this board. Yeah, that makes sense.
