If I'm doing >20 over the speed limit in the left lane, moving significantly faster than traffic to my right, I'm NOT squeezing over into a lane full of drivers at 55 so the jackass behind me doing 90 can go around. Sorry.

Notice that the only disagreements with the SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT, PASS ON THE LEFT rule of the roads are:

MA - The State filled with absolute worse drivers.
FL - The old retired people State.
GA - The dumb redneck State
TX - The even dumber redneck State

Just jealous because you can't keep up.

And I'm not saying to pass on the right, or not to stay on the right if you are driving 55 mph. My point is that, here in Mass (esp the eastern part) the roads are too crowded to stay out of the left lane when attempting to travel normally most of the time. So you may end up travelling in the leftest lane for miles at a time, usually passing cars the entire way.

3. when theres a long line for an exit and you have to get off, get in line like everybody else. dont ride in the middle lane until the last second and try to cut in. you are the reason the traffic grinds to a halt at most of the friggin exits, youre the jerkoff who is stopped in a through lane waiting for a spot to sneak in to the exit lane. you should be shot.

[/ QUOTE ]

If execution was ever legalized this would be the offense that it was designed for.

Another sore spot for me: If you have a merge sign in your lane you are required to find a safe spot to merge. The other lane is not required to make room for you as you cut in at the last second.

[/ QUOTE ]

With regards to this, I have a 3 car rule. After I turn on my turn signal to get into the exit lane, if one of the first 3 cars doens't let me in, I'm going to the front.

Btw, once I'm in the exit lane, I will let any car with it's turn signal on merge in front of me. If everyone was actually intelligent and polite enough to do this, then great drivers like me wouldn't be forced to go all the way to the front and cut in.

it is now illegal to do this in Illinois from what I understand. a friend was recently ticketed for riding too slow in the left lane, thus holding up the flow of traffic. this was on a highway, not an interstate.

i'm in complete agreement with the OP except that if I'm passin' everybody I'm just gonna stay in the left lane until somebody is on my ass. once i see them approaching in the rear view i'm very good about moving.

i wish more thought this way.

Boom Boom,

the thing is, if you're in the left hand lane, and someone comes up behind you traveling at a rate of speed greater than your own, you should get the hell out of that lane.

This is common sense, but common sense often ISN'T these days.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is so odd to read, as doing this is mostly impossible in rush hour Seattle traffic.

My point of view is this.

A- I live in a city where the left lane is not for passing, but it's the fast lane

B- I drive as fast as I can and still be safe. I consider myself to be the arbiter of safe speed.

C- If you're going faster than me, you're clearly going TOO FAST and should slow down.

D- If I can, I'll move over.

E- If I can't move over, and you're riding my bumper, I'll be slowing down to a speed that will annoy the living [censored] out of you. Enjoy!

People from Illinois suck at driving. So much so that we have an acronym for them here in Wisconsin. F***ing Illinois Bastards. Drive correctly, damnit!

What is up with all you guys thinking you know what speed is safe?

In my truck, 90 isn't safe. In a Ferrari, it's barely going.

You are not the arbiter of safe speed for anyone but yourself.
