I've been to that show at Excalibur. IIRC they didn't serve alcohol at the show itself which absolutely blew my mind.

They served alcohol every time I went. Strawberry Margaritas in a 'collectable' mug. Alcohol seems to help your voice carry in there when you're yelling at your idiot king who's lost every event.

Here's an interesting little tidbit for you. There are quite a few folks at these faires that are into BDSM too. So, if that's your bag you can easily meet some like-minded people. Not to mention some very kinky women too.

My main reason for going with the girlfriend at the time.
However that is not for this forum and I do not want to thread jack.

Never been to one of these, but did go to Medieval Times by Giants Stadium and it was awesome.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have gone to that also, however it does not even compare to a Ren Faire festival..not even close.

[/ QUOTE ]

More shops? How does it really differ? Maybe a Ren faire appeals to women more than a medieval faire does?

Ren Faires have more freaks, Medievil times has more family and children.

There you go. Also true of science fiction and fantasy conventions. I mean...rumor has it. Not that I would know about any of these things.

I dated the girl on the far right in the purple. No I'm not one of the guys in that photo.

The Texas RenFest is amazing, the performances are really good, there are top nutch jugglers and sword swallowers and all that kind of stuff, lots of fighting and jousting (which is a bit silly). One of my favorite things though is the artisans, there's a real forge where a guy makes simple weapons, in addition to stuff like glass blowing etc. which is fun for the kids. Of course there are shops some of which sell the standard reproductions, but some that sell the custom hand made weapons and other crafts that are super cool. Definitely a good time
