Can $25 million players qualify for this thread?

Boy was it fun watching gay-rod choke AB after AB tonight out at Shea.

[/ QUOTE ]

you are an idiot.

you should be banned from posting in any sporting events thread, ever.

to even suggest that arod is the worst 10 million+ baseball player is sheer stupidity.

AB after AB? He had 4 ABs and went 0 for 4. It happens. He went 2 for 4 on Sat and 1 for 4 on Friday.

Hack,

After reading this post and your ill-advised criticism of quality poster mrbaseball in the Sports Betting forum, please allow me to say, respectfully:

Pot ... kettle ... black.

Cheers.

Not many, only when friends in the area are home from college. Maybe 2-3 per year? I do my best to get to a game with Oakland each year though (I'm an A's fan).

Yeah, me too - I'm an A's fan, and a Tribe fan as well. I try to get to all of the Oak/Cle games up here.

Can someone tell me what the point of the Dreifort contract was? I saw it a year or two ago and it blew my mind that a player that bad could make that much money. What were they thinking at the time?

[/ QUOTE ]

He was a high draft pick with a lot of talent and was brought up to the majors almost immediately. He was a slightly above average pitcher who struggled with injuries. In the second half of his free agent year, he was awesome and it looked like he was going to develop into an ace. That offseason, several teams offered him big contracts and the Dodgers eventually matched Colorado's offer. He pitched half of the 2001 season before getting hurt. He missed all of 2002 and started 10 games in 2003 before getting hurt again. He came back in 2004 as a reliever and got hurt again. He never pitched again.

[/ QUOTE ]

if someone wants to dig up a draft preview from 1993 (94?), it will include something along the lines of "the mariners are possibly leaning towards taking alex rodriguez with the number 1 pick out of concern they will not be able to meet dreifort's contract demands."
