[ QUOTE ] For young drivers, I recomend that the learner's permit age be lowered to about 14 to give more time to practice. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, I thought this was standard. Is Alaska the only place where it's 14 right now? [/ QUOTE ]Know, in either Iowa or Idaho this is the same too, not sure which. |

[ QUOTE ]
I don't think it's unreasonable to require recertification on a periodic basis... for all drivers. [/ QUOTE ] I think it should be mandatory and much tougher. Some people just flat out can't drive well and shouldn't be allowed to. |

Just read that 1.2 million people worldwide died from auto accidents last year. No one should be allowed to drive. It's just too dangerous.

Don't the laws vary by state? My Grandma in Illinois drove until she was about 95, and she had to take a road test every year to renew (I don't know how old she was when the annual tests started).
I don't know if she quit driving because she couldn't pass the test or because she got sick of having to re-test every year. |

I've been sideswiped by someone who ran a redlight as i was going through the intersection, then just takes off! I chase the bastard down in my old f150 and when I finally cut him off to end quite a wreckless chase I get out and its some 70+ year old asian guy (no speaka engrish) muttering that I hit him, wtf.
Anyways dudes son came and explained his dad was senile and shouldnt even be on the road, and i was 17 driving a $900 truck so I didnt give a [censored] about my dented door and went to blaze. Moral of the story, Yes to yearly or every other year testing around the ages of 65-70. |
