Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
[ QUOTE ]
Any suggestions for a sweet sportscoat/suit? Thinking of going to EPT next spring or summer or something, gotta dress sharp. Don't even own a suit that fits right now, what's a good amount to spend? Where should I go? Anything? [/ QUOTE ] Which city are you going to? How are you built? For inspiration check out Modaoline or Style |

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
Mezlan shoes are decent quality. I'm not a fan of their styling and I think they are too expensive at full retail.

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
I am also searching for a similar everyday slip on shoe but I don't really like those ones very much. Ideas are welcome. I will post any I find and like.

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
Here are a few Bostonian shoes that I like. I like the brand because the current dress shoes I have are Bostonians and ridiculously comfortable.

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
KBZ - you know, the more I look at these the more they're growing on me. Initially I was put off by the stitching which looks too "mocassin-y" for my tastes, but it's not too over the top. It's also a very good brown. But I don't think I'd pay over $100 or so for them.
Jurollo - I am not a fan of the soles of these shoes they're heavy looking and a bit clunky, imo. -Al |

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
KBZ, I had a bad experience with a pair of Mezlans a long time ago and I'll never buy another pair. For those, one thing to worry about is that the top-stitching is big and porous and will tend to let in water when it rains.
For those lucky enough the live in the Bay Area, I think the SF Barney's opened today. |

Re: Fall Fashions (and good deals on fashions!)
DaveR - what do you think of Barney's branded shoes? I've owned a few and they've been serviceable and held up well over the years. But I'm not sure as to the craftsmanship of their shoe line from a value perspective. Same question for Cole Haan.
Jurollo - let's see what DaveR has to say... haha but I like Barney's and Cole Haan design wise. I also own Tod's and Bruno Magli. They're all fairly refined, clean lines, and plenty of shoes for each brand that can go casual (with jeans) but also be dressed up. I believe they're more expensive than Bostonian's (definitely Tod's and Maglis) not sure what price range you want to stick to for shoes. Oh and specifically for a slip on, Diablo IIRC had a very nice recommendation for I think it was a pair of Maglis (I don't wear slip ons). -Al Edit - here are the Diablo rec'd slip ons, I like them: Allen Edmonds, Milford, $285. |
