Uh oh- better start saving for corrective eye surgery, or the other dogs will tease her when she's 2.

Of course, if she's a 2-guard puppy, then she's a genetic advance.

I just got a puppy too, black lab/aussie mix. She's about 11 weeks and still [censored] etc everywhere -- definitely get a crate for crate training. Though, according to a family friend who trains and breeds dogs, right around 12 weeks is when a puppy starts to realize that they can actually hold on to their piss and [censored] and don't have to immediately drop it.

My gf has a new puppy around her place.
It's very cool, but always tries to gnaw on me. Is this totally standard, and if so, what happens when she develops her bite? Am I gonna lose some flesh when she is playing with me, or do I need to give her a soft smack like when she comes inside the house so she knows its bad?

Don't let her bite you? When our dog was a puppy, if he bit us, we'd clamp a hand down on his muzzle (obv without the body part in his mouth!). I've heard that dogs do this to the younger dogs to put them in their place. At least that explains the scar near my nose from a dog bite when I was 3.

Nah, this one is really small and seems like it's just following instinct learning how to bite in case it is needed as it is for dogs in the wild.

It's too small to hurt but seems to be borderline and it would be better if she could know not to bite too hard when playing.

Puppies usually interact with their littermates and learn that biting isn't ok. But your gf probably doesn't have the mom and littermates too.

Nip (ha) it in the bud and don't let her think that biting is ok. It's a bad habit for them to learn and could get your gf in some trouble if the dog bit someone's kid.

Cool thanks for the Bite stuff looks really good. Shes is going to start puppy training soon. I really want her to hunt a little but the GF really doesn't wnat her to , we shall see
shes spends about 80% of her time with my GF whos reading tons of books and the dog responds really well to her now. My only concern is still the house breaking. She hasn't had her rabbies shots should I be concerned walking her around outside where there are many wild animals? (Coons, Skunks and Deer)
