Re: PokerFink\'s NFC Rankings (Week 10)
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Yeah, I could see that. Man, Panthers have a brutal schedule. They should beat SF, but other than that, the worst team left on their schedule is Seattle. Yeesh. [/ QUOTE ] Nay, they get New Orleans. If you think New Orleans is better than Seattle, then I don't know what to tell you. [/ QUOTE ] Well I'd tell you that NO beat SEA in Seattle. Easily. The game wasn't even as close as the score (28-17) indicated. [/ QUOTE ] The Saints aren't any better than the Seahawks anymore than the Rams are better than the Saints. [/ QUOTE ] To be fair, both the Saints and the Seahawks are in the same "slightly above average" tier of teams atm. Neither are that good, but both are better than the awful teams making up most of the NFC. They are both in the 3rd tier of the NFC with Washington and Detroit imo. With the top tier being Dallas/GB and 2nd tier TB/NYG. Its a joke that the Seahawks get a free pass to the playoffs while teams like the Saints and Redskins will struggle to make it despite being on a similar level. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well the Redskins definitely got the shaft with their division but the Saints honestly shot themselves in the foot. The NFC South, though not as bad as the NFC West, is pretty bad. TB is not that great. With all the QB troubles and brutal schedule the Panthers didn't have a chance, and neither did the Falcons because of the Michael Vick mess. If the Saints could have just won one, maybe two of those early games (which I am still convinced they were capable of doing), they could have cruised to the playoffs. |

[/ QUOTE ] First of all, you're giving the Saints too much credit. It's like people willingly ignore that the Saints were AWFUL the first month of the season. Not one bad game. A month. You can't ignore that. Those four games happened. Second, the Seahawks are pretty good. They're probably better than Philly and Washington, and they're certainly better than Detroit. Their special teams DVOA skews their total ranking up to 9th, which obviously seems too high, but regardless that's still a good football team. |

[ QUOTE ] But it was the defense that let them down - the Skins simply had no answer for Brian Westbrook. [/ QUOTE ] They never do [/ QUOTE ] Our answer for Brian Westbrook had to leave the game midway through the third quarter due to a knee injury. |

[/ QUOTE ] This just isn't true right now. Interconference play is split so far, with 20 wins for each conference, and all other indicators seem to agree that the conferences are fairly evenly matched. It's true that the AFC's top 3 are very strong, but the conference is not as deep as in the past, and has its fair share of miserable teams at the bottom. |

Re: PokerFink\'s NFC Rankings (Week 10)
Really, when you think about it, there are only like 5 quality teams, NE IND DAL PIT GB. You could include JAX, I guess. Everyone else is basically in another tier before you get to the truly terrible teams.

Those four games happened. [/ QUOTE ] Don't get me wrong, the Saints aren't a good team. However, they did beat Seattle in their only meeting, and also beat a good Jacksonville team. When they are on, they are good, but they seem very random, like last weeks awful loss. [ QUOTE ] Second, the Seahawks are pretty good. They're probably better than Philly and Washington, and they're certainly better than Detroit. Their special teams DVOA skews their total ranking up to 9th, which obviously seems too high, but regardless that's still a good football team. [/ QUOTE ] Who has Seattle beat? They have 1 impressive win, against Tampa in week 1. Their other victories are over Cinci, 2x vs SF, and 1 vs St Louis. They got blown out by Pittsburgh and NO, and lost to Cleveland and Arizona in close games. Their stats look impressive because they beat up on awful teams, but they haven't shown that they can actually beat a good team. |
