Default Re: October 2006 - Goals Thread!

[ QUOTE ]
I spent the last week of Sept bonus whoring blackjack to actually build a real poker BR. Oct will be the month I stop playing 10NL for giggles and actually focus on crushing it. With an eye to move up to 25NL in Nov.

Goals:

- play > 5k hands
- stop lurking and actually post hands I need help with
- don't get too excited when I hit a hand
- learn to check behind on the river (ie: think about what hands will call my river bets)
- read more books

So I moved up to 25nl early in the month. Ran hot and thought I was a champ. The came the downswing. The graph will show all this.

1) done, I actually have played around 7k hands this month.
2) failed, I have however done session reviews with my poker crew.
3) failed, too many stackings resulted from me not letting go of hands which I really should have expected to be beaten
4) done, this month I've learned a lot about the different lines you can take through the same hand and situations / reads which should help to decide which approach to take.
5) partially done, reading harrington
6) done!

Busto, ROBUSTO!

All in all, I've learned a lot this month. The big lesson was that I was playing way too many marginal hands and calling too many pfr's. While I still struggle to keep myself playing like a nit, I've improved a lot. Much more to learn next month tho!
