We were applying it to 10NL specifically as there were at least 2 of us (Wooster and myself) that were scratching our heads as to why we were not crushing the 10NL game (I was running at a screamin' 2 PT BB/100).

It appears that we were probably being a little naive in thinking that we were up against thinking players that could actually let go of marginal holding.

Update on the Gelford Ubernit Style:

[/ QUOTE ]Did I miss this thread, or?

[/ QUOTE ]

After Gelford mentioned that he played 10K hands at 20nl playing only 22+, AQo+ (put I rekon he cheated a bit and added a few hands) and made a nice little profit, Student Caine and I (and others?) decided that maybe playing the 'UBERNIT' style was the key to success at 10NL (/25NL) due to several facts. 1) Our opponents were (in general) very un-observant and so would not notice that we only played 10% of our hands, and so would still call down with top pair. 2) Those opponents that are observent, who are also the sort of opponents who we do not want to get into pots with because they have brains, would realise that we only play premium hands and so stay out of our way.

As has been mentioned by several people, playing the UBERNIT style is NOT good poker, it is merly taking advantage of the level of play at 10NL and will only turn a marginal profit with good table selection.

The reason Student Caine and I have adopted this method is that it makes post flop play much much easier and so we can slowly adapt to different opponents and start to open up our ranges when we feel confident about it. Basically, if you are struggling at the micros, it is not a bad idea to play 10K hands using the UBERNIT style, taking in as much information as possible, and then very slowly and methodically adding more hands to your arsenal. This makes post flop play much easier to understand as you are confronted with one situation at a time, and when you have learned how to deal with it, you then (and only then) move on to dealing with the next type of situation. This avoids to overwhelming difficulty of suddenly playing 30% of your hands and having no idea where you stand postflop.....

Hope this helps, not sure if it makes sence but you get the idea...

Yeah I cheated, But the principle of it holds, to simply play 'stay out of trouble' poker (thus enabling me to 8 table) and just feed of the fish

Ok so my first long 6 tabling session today after a long time of 15min sessions. And it was terrible... I had some bad luck KK<AA, KK>QQ etc. But probably got lucky on other hands too, well at least I'm happy that I almost cleared my $600 bonus

p.s. what do we do with hands like JQs JTs KTS 87s, etc... when I raise to 4xbb on the button and get minraised by the bb to 8xbb?
