Re: Does anybody else dislike the Colbert Report???
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Think of the talent the Daily Show has spawned. Colbert, Steve Carrell, Mo Rocca, Brian Unger, Dave Attell, Rob Cordry, Ed Helms. That's close to one of SNL's better runs over a similar time frame. [/ QUOTE ] I like some of those guys, but your list mostly reminds me how much I miss the days of Colbert and Carrell. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah the biggest problem with DS is that they have lost so many funny ass guys throughout the years. Correll, Colbert, and Cordry are all hilarious IMO. Rocco is ok, but still funny. I did not realize Dave Attel use to be on the show. I like Lewis Black on their right now. |

Re: Does anybody else dislike the Colbert Report???

CR>>>>>>DS One of my favorite parts of the show is when Colbert cracks himself up and ruins his bit. [/ QUOTE ] Probably the funniest one ever is from when Colbert was still on the Daily Show and did a report on Prince Charles. There was a lot of homosexual innuendo topped off by Colbert going down on a banana, after which he completely loses it. There used to be youtube videos of it but I can't find one that works. |

I can't believe someone else hasn't posted this yet, but for this alone I will never question Colbert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSE_saVX_2A The back story is the person who invited him to the dinner had never seen his show, oops. |

[ QUOTE ] I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] the Colbert Report, but it can get repetitive and predictable at times. [/ QUOTE ] But inbetween that he can come up with some of the most creative, original stuff I've seen on tv in a long time. Like the whole better know a district thing - (military shrink rays, singing with the Orleans guy) and stuff like Crumbelievable, Formula 401. [/ QUOTE ] exactly. of course it can get predictable - it's really hard to do comedy like that every night, and then come up with a decent interview. I don't always watch the interviews - they're the most predictable - but they find obscure news stories (monkey on the lam!) and blow them up hilariously. |

Re: Does anybody else dislike the Colbert Report???
[ QUOTE ]
"Cheating Death" is retarded. [/ QUOTE ] Oh, you don't understand what hilarious is. I see the problem here. This is the only segment that consistently makes my sides physically hurt from laughing so hard. "Braintooth"? "Increased chance of vampire attacks"? If you don't find those side effects to a drug completely hilarious, especially given real world drug side effects such as anal leakage, then, I'm sorry, but you don't get funny. "Better know a district" is usually just as uncomfortable as the interviews he does. Mostly because they're usually also interviews. Imo, Colbert Show has better writing than the Daily Show. It's not always funnier, but the writing is just so biting at times that you know a large cross-section of viewers who aren't in on the joke (that he is playing a character) just totally missed it. (Again, just my opinion, but some of the best jokes are those that are so subtle you could easily miss them, and given audience reaction, they are frequently missed) |

[/ QUOTE ] This is actually what got me watching the show. I watched the Daily Show but never really gave Colbert a chance. Until I saw this. Then I said ok I'll give the guy a shot. Watched ever since. |

Re: Does anybody else dislike the Colbert Report???
The Colbert Show panders to morons who are overjoyed to be in on the joke. That said, I like it. Props to a writing team that can be consistently humorous day in and day out.
But fanboys, please, settle down. |

[/ QUOTE ] Seriously do you actually believe that back story, that's ridiculous, i've seen this clip before and it is pretty much as good as it gets, but the notion that someone organising and event of that order would not know who they were booking is just crazy wrong. |
