What is procedural mating? [/ QUOTE ] It means that rather than programming in a hundred different types of mating, mating calls and mating animations the computer analyses the structure of your creature and generates all of this based on logic. For example in the video the mating dance occurs at a 45 degree angle because the third leg at the front would make it awkward if it was face on, also, when the male siihp the female moves the tail/grabber thing out of the way. With regards to the person who felt that there is no point to the evolution once it reaches the city phase: The cities, textures, vehicles, buildings etc are all generated procedurally as well, based on your creature. So the evolution affects the type of city you have, also, your entire population is of that species, so if you are a weak herbivour you face different challenges as a sentient being. Basically, this game is awesome and I'm so exicited it can't possibly live up to my expectations [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Yay, for the fact that this thread is still alive. |
