Just do what I did. Play 35k hands of NL2 at 22/18/3 and then play 35k hands of NL5 at 20/17/3. If you can read those players at NL2 and NL5 then you have a bright future ahead of you.

What I see is people going super aggro on uNL tables because they see higher stakes players doing it or they just think aggression is good but dont know how to focus it. So yes at uNL, you should open your game, but for the right reasons, not just because.

And let me reiterate: Solid ABC / TAG poker != playing like a nit.

The point is this:

uNL needs to focus on learning how to play ABC TAG poker in the 95% of the hands they play where things proceed normally instead of worrying about the DEFGH plays they can be making in the other 5% of the hands they can possibly be playing.

i don't disagree with you or anything, but the thing that's kind of dumb about this thread is that the overwhelming majority of the posts here ARE about playing abc poker.

So basically it's a bad thing that my default UTG opening range is {22+, any two suited broadway, A8s+, SCs down to 45s, some other stuff} until the table adjusts? Is that the message here? I gots to know.

Wow, I really didn't realize people at uNL had such a poor outlook on how to play the micro stakes. Micro stakes really isn't about loosening up and getting into marginal spots on purpose for most of us. That approach might be fine if you want to mess around, but ABC poker is the best approach if you want to move up and learn more and more. People need to learn a foundation so that they can loosen up when the move up in stakes. Opponents' play in marginal post flop situations at 25NL is probably way different than in those same spots at 200NL+. I think the purpose of this forum is to learn a foundation (ABC poker) that can be marginally winning even at pretty high stakes tables. Then with that foundation we can add little by little gaining confidence in marginal situations when we get to 100NL and beyond. uNL stakes can be killed playing 15/12 or 17/14. It's when we're not KILLING it anymore that we can try to extract with more marginal hands.
