I'd move there in a second if there was bigger action....once the housing market improved and I could sell my house!

move to CO in general, or to BH? The action will never get bigger, so don't bother.

Quite simply stated, the rule is "English only at the table". Not at the table if you're not in hand or between. The rule is that if you're at the table, you speak English. The dealers do a piss poor job of enforcing this, because they can expect a min $5 per hand tip.

[/ QUOTE ]

This generally is not the rule. Often tournaments use this rule, but this rule is very rare in a B&M cash game.

[ QUOTE ]
Bottom line is this: CGC busted them, not the casino.

[/ QUOTE ]
The Colorado Division of Gaming normally send an agent out at the request of a a casino. I can assur eyou they aren't sitting around watching to see if players are colluding.

[ QUOTE ]
Last time I went to the hill was March and we were 6 handed discussing a chop. Dealer stated she can't let us do it, that "gaming narcs" were around and she can't afford to be fired if we rat her out.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yet above you were upset about the dealers not enforcing what you believed to be a rule. And you are also upset about them enforcing an actual rule. Here is the rule:
[ QUOTE ]
At the option of the retail licensee, the tournament rules may permit aspecified number of players, not to exceed the total number of prizes advertized to unanimously agree to split the prize(s) between or among themselves

Let's clarify.. Every legit card room has an English only rule. The dealer at the tourney( Gilpin, so basically same as Lodge) only enforced the rule because she was scared of losing her job due to gaming being rumored to be there.

Gaming will also visit a casino at random, or due to complaints. I'd venture to guess that it wasn't the Lodge that requested they come in, rather disgruntled players. You, as a floor rep managing the room; should put an end to anything that may cause gaming to come in.

As far as this goes, it means its up to Gilpin/Lodge to decide how many places pay. Why then would they not allow 6 players to chop when all wanted to. The lady was very adamant that Gaming won't allow more than 5 spots paid.

It was previously 5 players. There was a very recent (June 1?) where it was changed to the number of places paid. IF the tournament is advertised as paying 5 places there cannot be a 6 way deal.

Well, as advertised; I haven't been there since March. So what rules do you use to decide place payments? Top 10% of field?

The normal rule is English only when play is in progress. It isn't uncommon for someone to believe something they heard somewhere is a rule everywhere. Almost everyday I have someone insist somethign is a rule everywhere that just isn't (cards touching the muck being automatically dead is one that comes to mind, if I wasn't closing in 5 minutes I could make a list for you).

The casino has an obligation to call the Division of Gaming anytime they observe a serious irregularity.

Define serious irregularity for me, by the floor standards. I've seen plenty of serious irregularities and no one's ever mentioned that CGC must de notified.

There is a list of them. BTW it is CDOG (Colorado Division of Gaming). Off the top of my head a fouled deck, allegations of cheating. Those are the two big ones that come to mind that are related to the game itself, there are a bunch of other ones that deal with administrative stuff (restricted keys off the property etc). I have to get up early, but if you are really interested here is there website. Rule 10 deals with poker.

edit to add: I have had more contact with gaming in 4 months in Colorado than in the previous 10 years in other markets.
