I took it to my bank and deposited.

What bank? Do you have a lot of $$$ in that account?

Honestly it was my checking acct. and I had < $1 in the account. The check was for $1500. I had zero problems what so ever. Bank was fifth third in central indiana. The process was so smooth that I feel kinda dumb for even getting worried about all this BS.

I just logged in to make almost the exact same post. I requested it on Sunday night (>1k), and it showed up this morning (so the 3 day courier service looks pretty reliable).

The check does look kinda large and cartooney. I'll let everyone know how the check cashing goes (BoA).

If someone can take a picture of the check, it'd be nice to see what PS sends out. Is it like a corporate check that is longer than the typical check? Or bigger?

In either NY of PA they can put a 14-day hold on out of state checks. It's absurd.

boa will not cash a boa check if you dont have a boa account

you really dont want a boa account either

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the complete opposite of truth (except for the part about not wanting a BoA account). BoA (as well as all banks in the US) will cash checks written on them, if you go there in person with ID. No account needed. Many banks will take your thumbprint. Make sure you bring a thumb. If there's money in the account to cover the check, they give you the cash. If not, they say, sorry, not enough money, try again another day.

I've done it many, many times with checks in the $1K-$3K range. Never tried it with larger, > $10K checks.

I took my check to my bank today and had no problem; she said funds will be available in two business days. Will confirm that it clears here.

So far this seems like ~ one week turnaround for any check over $1K from request to $$ in hand. Maybe longer depending on yuor bank's rules but, assuming the check clears I'm impressed with Stars' end.

It is the same size as a corporate check/paycheck.

Why not just deposit it in an ATM if you're not planning to cash it?
