Plynesian Cultural Center on the North East Coast of the Island FTW!

Just don't whine at the Samoan warriors or they'll eat your head.

[/ QUOTE ]

Everyone I spoke to said that is the biggest tourist trap on the island, and it should be avoided at all costs. Did you know the PCC is realy a front for the Morman LDS church? The employees all attend Brigham Young.

[/ QUOTE ]

I knew all that & had forgotten it, re: tourist trap/ Mormons, but it's still a good show & you don't have to buy anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh you HAVE to buy alright, they charge for tickets across the board... packages arent cheep.

I ended up going to Pearl Harbor, which IMHO was a bad idea. I was hoping to learn more about the attack, instead it was an excuse for a Rah Rah We Are The Greatest War Machine festival; I was offended morally (nearly my whole family is in the military, not sure if they would agree). Unfortunately I missed the Arizona Memorial because I arrived too late in the day so my opinion might have been different if I was able to, I was stuck on the Missouri and a submarine instead with only passing reference to Pearl Harbor on each.

yeah, P.H. was lame and disappointing, especially the sub. tour. Did you go to the tribute at the end where they play the National Anthem, or whatever it was? People cried when I was there.

I went in a group to the P.C.C. and I don't really know how admissions were handled, and just thought it was a really cool show. There's also a famous historical cemetary (that I feel really lame for not remembering its name)that's pretty neat to visit. But I'm kinda weird probably, because I like cemetaries.

Horrible to be stuck on the ship that has arguably seen the most historic moments of any ship still floating today.

The best part of the Missouri was the treaty which ended WWII because it emphasized the ultimate mission - the achievement of peace. The rest of the exhibit was a Rah Rah Rah USA #1, don't mess with us because we have the best war machine type of exhibit - which I find offensive; the glorification of the armed forces I would always respect and honor, but the glorification of the war machine itself is a different story.

I guess I was hoping to experience something like the WWII Churchill Cabinet War Room in London, which was a testament to the resolve of the British during the bombardment by the Nazis, it was a decisively anti-war exhibit. - link
