I really recommend everyone to download the imageshack toolbar It makes uploading pics a breeze. Instead of hotlinking you can just right click on the picture and select "upload to imageshack". You can even drap and drop pics into the reply box and it will automatically upload it and even automatically enter the tags into the reply box.

you can hotlink from cnn and most people/forums won't really care, but random guys with personal hosting accounts can really get screwed over if they're linked to by a major site.
