Re: Chicago suburbs
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] FWIW, I'm also looking to possibly move back to Chicago within 6mos to 2 years, and would like to hear suggestions for good places for singles to live (I'm 27). Prefer good 'bang for the buck', and train access is pretty important. [/ QUOTE ] Not sure exactly how your priorities stack up, but what about Evanston (assuming you want to rent and not buy)? You could also try for a place in the city, maybe the West Loop for lower prices... -bigbootch [/ QUOTE ] evanston is starting to get really expensive as far as renting and buying condos goes. If you aren't working in the north burbs or going to Northwestern, Evanston probably isn't the best option for someone in their late 20s/early 30s. My friend has a place right now in Lincoln Square and is paying 1K a month for a nice 2 bedroom. I myself have been looking at the lakeview area as it's a bit more for my age bracket then lincoln park(I'm 27) |

Re: Chicago suburbs
Also I don't know the field you work in, but for the vast majority of jobs there really isn't much of a reason to have to work downtown.
There are plenty of jobs throughout the suburbs, be it manufacturing, corporate headquarters, etc. I have lived and worked in the western suburbs since graduating from DePaul 8 years ago. Finding good positions in my field, finance/accounting, has been simple. |

Aurora, as long as you are within the Oswego School District, is a good option. You should be able to find a home under $300k that will work for you. [/ QUOTE ] you can put that $ you're saving towards medical bills since you'll get shot pulling into your driveway. |

Re: Chicago suburbs
[ QUOTE ]
Sidenote: It's cool to see that my hometown has been thrown around in discussion, usually when I say I'm from Lisle people have a weird look on their face and I have to say "It's near Naperville". [/ QUOTE ] Yes, it's like comparing New Jersey to NYC. |

After I left college, I moved to Naperville. Life was good back then. Hot, horny Naperville pantydroppers FTW. Miss you, Jill, Heather, Lori, Tara, Jenny, Mary... and the forgotton ones. |

Re: Chicago suburbs
Park Ridge is way more expensive than Glenview. I just checked on the MLS and literally the cheapest home listed was a 2br 1 bath for $310k

we should probably get a 2p2 Chicago burbs happy hour going somewhere [/ QUOTE ] I'm down when I am back from school. I am also stunned at the amount of suburbanites on this board. |

I'd say if the OP wanted to live in the north, glenview would be a great place to live, but to grab up while the gettings are still good in glenview as I don't doubt that it will get a fair amount more expensive in the next 5-10 years. |
