lol, what is the quote? symbol is 6BH8 from interactivebrokers. i can't get a live quote though so i can't tell whether to buy or sell it.

typically though GBP/USD indicates that purchasing this contract is going long the pound short the dollar.

always double check though.

so i'd purchase this contract for whatever it is if you wanna go short the pound (i.e. should be quoted as $2.10 or something to the pound for mar'08 as a guess)

thanks for reply barron. to be more specific:

Forward GBP/USD March 2008
Sell $1.9963
Buy $1.9976

i agree i want to buy to short the dollar.

given you expect march 2008 to be about $2.10, do you think this is a good short?

i just guessed that the USD woudl be priced to depreciate significantly.

given that i see it is priced to appreciate, it may be a good short. question is, given the interest rate diff & relative growth expectations, why is it priced that way?

i'd do a bit of research to figure out why that is the case, but i think given what i see in the markets, the dollar is overpriced.

i just shorted, very small amounts though, basically $100 for every $0.01 swing. i should put more down as i have $20K which i should hedge against dollar depreciating.

thanks for replies, i should do some research, but no matter how much i do i imagine it wouldnt be enough, so ill go with my gut instead
