To "kill or disabilitate someone", 1 vs 1 or in a group situation - Krav Maga by far.

But, both jiu jitsu (or dzudo) and mua thai are highly desirable for a solid foundation. Krav Maga is just tactics, it teaches you what to do in certain situation, not how. If you dont know how to do a bridge or to punch its not gonna be much help.

The correct answer is modern MMA as a foundation, with all the necessary throat, eye, ear, groin stuff added.

You have to know the 'gimmicky' stuff, because they are like knockouts, you can get one in a flash and win the fight. But you also can't think that they are all you need to know, and a lot of martial arts waste WAYYYYYYYYY too much time with stupid 'i gouge your eyes, strike your throat and rip your ear off'. Sure, but have you ever actually done it to a resisting partner? That's what i thought.

Train with modern MMA as your base, because you can simulate getting taken down, taking a guy down, choking, joint manipulation, striking, defending striking, etc. You can actually PROVE that you can do these things, and master them against resisting partners. Without this base you will be going for some longshot 'deadly' technique that you've never actually pulled off before (unless you regularly get into life-or-death street fights). After you are solidly skilled at MMA, consider learning eye gouging, fish hooking, finger manipulation, throat strikes, groin strikes, pressure points, etc. But these things on their own are more likely to get you killed than to save you.

If you are looking for an individual art,

Jiu jistu
Boxing
Muay Thai
Wrestling
Judo

Are the basis of 99% of modern MMA.

This DannyOcean fella is 100% correct and anyone who thinks otherwise is merely engaging in mastubatory flights of fancy.

End thread.

Fights normally go to the ground..So BJJ is normally the best for ending a fight quickly on the ground..

[/ QUOTE ]

Ugh. Most fights take place between 2 people that have no idea what they are doing. This means that: very little damage will take place from striking, and therefore it will go to a clinch, and one of them will lose his balance, because he doesn't have any damn balance.

If you're decent at stand up striking, and have good footwork, it's unlikely that you will end up on the ground. The exception is if your opponent is a skilled grappler. In that case, you should know some grappling yourself, or hope to almighty god that you can KO his ass before he gets his hands on you (prob not gonna happen)

[ QUOTE ]

However..You dont wanna go for an arm bar and have someone friends kick you in the face..So maybe ending it quicker is better..

[/ QUOTE ]

Correct!

[ QUOTE ]

Honestly though..I would say Muay Thai and running. In most real life situations Ive been in, the keys are quickly hurting or otherwise getting away from attacker(s). Then getting as far away as possible..

[/ QUOTE ]

Most striking styles that include full contact sparring are good. Muay thai isn't the only option.

While MMA is awesome to watch, and even more fun to practice, almost anything will work in real-life situations if you know the proper technique. With the proper pressure applied to a nerve in the arm, a 300lb+ MMA fighter is no match for a 100lb girl. Its all in the technique.

this is so wrong it's ridiculous. I had a kung fu guy who also did acupunture for a living try that stuff on me. It was hilarious. He was feeling around on my body, squeezing stuff, and seemed genuinely disappointed when I just went "meh."

In a serious fight, pain isn't going to deter someone from attacking you. They'll be pumped full of too much adrenaline to care about your lame ass prssure point attacks. Also: do you know how goddamned hard it is to hit someone in an EXACT spot during combat?

hands down jeet dune do. its been awhile since ive been in martial arts but i think this is the style they train to the SEALs. Bruce Lee didnt make up this style if it wasnt the best. its hard to find a school for it though. there are no competitions and no belts for it, because it is way too deadly to be a sport
