Atlas Shrugged is just about the most unreadable book ever written.

dont read it, it will brainwash you into thinking being selfish is a virtue. that's what happened to my friend and he never fully recovered.

[/ QUOTE ]

That also happened to my aunt who became a horror. She was always mentioning Ayn Rand and recommending the books. She pulled some awful family business stunts and it was 'all about her', no one else counted for anything. Of course, we no longer speak. It's too bad because I liked her before that crap started.

That's less of a knock against the books, and more against your aunt (or friend).

Not only did I read the entire speech but I haven't quit reading books because of it. Came close though.

Also skip that 80 page John Galt speech. I've read the book like 5 times and never read more than 1/3rd of that speech. I don't know anyone who read the entire speech.

[/ QUOTE ]

why would you read a book 5 times that you couldn't get through a part it once?

[/ QUOTE ]Have you ever read it? The rest of it is pretty good but that speech is terrible. Its like 80 pages of the same thing being said 10 times in a row.
