Here's a FICO estimator. It was accurate with me.

Don't know mine for sure, but this thing estimated me at being 705-755.

We bought a car a few months ago, and the finance guy said that my credit score was 838, one of the highest he'd seen.

Then he showed my wife her ~860 score, which he claimed was actually the single highest he had ever seen. Wife 1, Analyst 0 . . .

Auto people BS as a matter of course so I discount the "highest, blah, blah, blah" part, but he showed us the report and the scores were legit.

Auto lenders often use an auto-adjusted FICO that weights loans on vehicles more significantly than other types of debts and is supposed to be more predictive of auto loan repayment. Those scores can be more than 850.

Edit: Also, I think FAKOs can be higher, which are basically non-FairIsaac scores. (Like buying the store brand of Cheerios.)

Applied for a line of credit today for debt reduction and home improvements. I mentioned to the rep that maybe my FICO score had dropped some in the past couple of years.

He checked his computer, kinda laughed and said, "Yeah, if you dropped 50 points from here, you'd be downgraded to Excellent".

So I guess all's well.

731

I'm 23 and 14k in debt according to my credit score. When I actually need to have good credit (to buy a house?) I'll pay off my debt and my credit score should skyrocket.

I kind of accidentally achieved a decent credit score. I have a student credit card, a gateway and dell card, student loans from Wells Fargo and the government, and a line of credit from Wells. No problems with any of them.

737. Was over 750 but some roommates didn't pay back utility bills they were supposed to in my name and that hurt the score a little bit.

But I hate these stupid credit companies. They make up a way to rank our credit, make it good enough so companies use it to determine meaningful things, then they talk about the threat of identity theft so that we, the consumer, should pay them so we can watch our credit that they are making up. And if something [censored] up and somebody tries to steal our identity or whatever, it is our job to fix it, not theirs.

I also would like to note I know little to nothing about credit agencies so I have no idea how accurate that rant is.

I'm not sure if its the same score system in Canada but my most recent check showed about 805 (applied for mortgage).

Also it is my understanding (from working at a bank's collection department) that mortgages and mortgage payments don't show up on your credit score. We always threatened the people with late payments with lowered credit scores as a consequence but the higher ups always said that it wasn't true.

The only things that got reported were credit card, line of credit and loan payments (from a bank).
