now, house centipedes are a different matter. i'm still adjusting to those monsters.

Heh, woke up two days ago being bit by this.

Wasn't much fun.

Is that the super painful-biting, really poisonous kind?

How widespread are those?

Why did it come over and bite you? Most things leave you alone if you're way bigger than them and minding your own business.

They're called Camel Spiders, or Scorpion Hunters. I've actually seen one in Israel. They will put the fear of god in you:

The one I saw was inside a bedouin tent where we were sleeping. It was really fast for the size. I can't even begin to tell you how tightly I pulled my sleeping bag over my head. I didn't sleep.

OP,

Not the right kind of web for a black widow.

Centipede guy,

That looks so [censored] ing gross. I have some in my basement, but they're smaller and don't wander into my bedroom.

Camel spider guy,

I'm pretty sure that the pic you showed has been "debunked" with the aspect that the bugs are way closer to the camera then the pic would lead you to believe. These bugs exist, but I'm pretty sure they're harmless to people.

Oh the camel spider isn't some massive man eater. I never claimed that. But the one I saw was much bigger then a human hand. leg to leg the one I saw was a little more then 12 inches, and that's enough for me to want to be nowhere near one. They aren't venemous, but their bite is very painful. My dad's unit used to have stories about them being in their tents. Bites hurt like hell.
