Re: best player in the world
Come on everyone...99% of us who post on here do not know what we are talking about on this subject.
You only can have a credible opinion if youve played against the best regularly,or are privy to the results of the top players. Important criteria would be; who has made the most money playing poker with the greatest consistency.(ie one of donkament win of 12million etc dont count Jamie Gold...but consistent performances such as Negreanu and Ivey would in that format). Contenders (going on the opinion of people in the know) would be Chip Reese,Doyle Brunson,Ivey and maybe newcomers Antonius,Benyamine on there current profile. ..But i strongly feel you would have to be playing with the top guys to know and understand how good they are and who is the "best". |

Re: best player in the world
We've already covered this (use the search function). The answer is Jeff Madsen, but he could only do it if he was backed by Andy Beal's million dollar bankroll.

Re: best player in the world
I recently interviewed Dan Harrington and asked him this very question. The interview should be in the November issue of Two Plus Two Internet Magazine.

I can't remember his name exactly, but the word on the street is that it's a brother named "Silky"

Re: best player in the world
I asked Todd Brunson whether Phil Ivey was the best player in the world at the World Series this year and he said the question wasn't answerable. His explanation was something to the effect of 'People say Phil Ivey is the best, but the best is measured by success in the Big Game, and that success can only be measured on a decade-by-decade basis due to sample size. How can we say Phil Ivey is the best if he hasn't even played for a decade?' I tend to agree with him, and don't think anyone except the players who have played the names that are often offered in this debate can really give a genuine answer other than 'I don't know'

Re: best player in the world
Omaha8/b Coinflip between Antonuis and Ivery for bankrolls would determine the best
