Emilio Estevez-I thought he was great in The Breakfast Club and especially Repo Man, not sure what happened after that. It was sad to see him play such a small role in Mission Impossible.
Charlie Sheen-He's certainly successful and did hit the next level to a certain degree but I would have preferred he stuck to big "oscar worthy" movies as opposed to comedy or TV. Platoon and Wallstreet were so good. |

Eric Stoltz is the best call mentioned thus far. If only he hadn't been fired from "Back To The Future"...

Once Oliver Stone got over his hard-on for him, it was pretty expectable few would pick him for that level of project. |

Not that I particularly care for him, but you would think that Val Kilmer's career would have gone further than it did. Apparently when you're an ass on the set, word gets around and parts dry up.
Although she achieved more success, this apparently happened to Helen Hunt. Hit TV show, Oscar, then zip. Supposedly her nickname rhymes with her last name. |

I hadn't known either of them was an ass. Somehow, Helen did kind of give me that vibe, though. Maybe that's another reason she isn't that big. I always got the feeling that she was one of those women you're supposed to think is more attractive than she really is like Andie MacDowell. Reminds me of a guy I was thinking of mentioning, Michael Nouri. On the commentary of The Hidden, the director mentions that the guy had everything going for him -- talent, looks, charisma, whatever -- but he a-holed his way right out of anyone wanting to work with him. He has tons of credits, but almost all of them were one-shot guest star appearances on t.v. show. He started off bigger than he would ever get again, as the male lead in Flashdance. Another is Chris Sarandon, who was so good in Fright Night and The Princess Bride. And one that really surprised me was Stephen Geoffreys. He was incredible as Evil Ed, the best friend gone bad in Fright Night. Hilarious, great portrayal. Check out the following from IMDB: [ QUOTE ] Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1985" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 37. Did gay pornography under the name of Sam Ritter for several years. Enjoys writing short stories. Enjoys body building. Was offered the chance to reprise his role as "Evil" Ed Thompson in _Fright Night Part II (1988)_ , but declined the part. Was nominated for Broadway's 1984 Tony Award as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical) for "The Human Comedy." Personal Quotes "Horror movies are fun to do. They're exciting; there's never a dull moment. You really have to use your imagination a whole lot. You just don't put the make-up on and be scary. You really have to believe it. You have to believe this is really happening to you. If you can achieve that reality, it's exciting." (on acting in horror movies) [/ QUOTE ] And he did, and it was! He started out nominated for a Tony and absolutely fantastic in a very fun movie that everybody loved. Within seven years he moved permanently to gay porn and movies like "Transsexual Prostitutes". Wow. |

John Turturro.
Most casual movie watchers will recognize him, but very few will know his name. IMHO one of the best actors working today. |

For a guy with his, to put it charitably, less than top notch looks, he made it about as far as those guys can go. Everybody seems to know him. Where else would you picture a guy like this, really? Forget romantic lead, action hero, etc. I love his acting and always look forward to seeing him, but am having a hard time picturing him being a fit for the male lead in many movies. You know, the male lead is often the least interesting character. Guys like Turturro brighten up any scene they're in. |
