We had them two years ago in DC. I remember being out back in the early evening and I could hear them walking. At first I couldn't figure out what the noise was. It was a rustling sound coming from near a large maple tree, faint and constant. I went out to find the source of the sound and the ground was moving. Well not really, is was just the thousands of cicada all emerging and walking towards the tree. It was all pretty creepy yet strangely fascinating.

Forgot to mention... the whole things covered in clear packing tape so the guts spatter better and remain visible.

in 97 in MO we had both the 17 and 13 yr forms emerge. It was absolutely insane.
