Actually it's Mexico that hates the U.S.
You ever see the movie "Envy"? The United States is the next door neighbor who got filthy stinking rich and built a giant [censored] garish house in the same spot. America, for the most part, doesn't even think about Mexico as a nation very much. A source of immigrants, but not really the country itself other than the beach resorts. Also, how the hell is China suddenly the same size as Japan? |

Mexico are a fairly strong footballing side in general to be fair. [/ QUOTE ] Traditionally, Mexico has been far better than the U.S. In the last decade or so, they've still done very well internationally but get owned by the U.S. over and over. |

BigPoppa, I agree that the US national team is improving, and will continue to improve. It may even turn in to one of the best in the world in the next 10 to 20 years. Actually, based on participation and population numbers, I think it's even likely. Still, I don't think the MLS will ever be uber popular due to reasons I stated before. Like you eluded to, the good American players will move to Europe to prove and improve their game in the toughest available competition. In other words, they won't choose to play in the MLS. Landon Donavan is an exception, and I wonder if even he would have moved back to the US if any European clubs better than Leverkusen wanted him Btw, I hope Adu does well at Benefica the next couple years, that would be great for the US. |
