It's called the Drew Brees/Phillip Rivers theory...
Brees played poor in SD until they traded up for Rivers, then Brees played good. Got rid of him and SD had #1 record in NFL this year.

Insert Grossman for Brees, Quinn for Rivers and Bears for Chargers.
