in other news, notre dame is now 1-9. [/ QUOTE ] Both Duke and Stanford have legit shots at beating ND. Stupid UCLA ruined a potential 0-12 season. Oh well, there's always next year. |

Re: The state of Notre Dame football.
I think you ND guys need to stop being so upset about the inevitable ribbing you will receive after back to back losses to service academies, and spend some time thinking up new and more clever reasons for blaming Ty Willingham for your upcoming loss to Duke.

Re: The state of Notre Dame football.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Charlie Weis is just outright awful If he was black, he'd be fired [/ QUOTE ] No, people don't lose support at ND because they are black-- but they might get hired because, while unqualified, they are black, and then be lazy and inarticulate and therefore lose the job. Race has nothing to do with it. [/ QUOTE ] Ty's inarticulate? I hear him more than weekly, and everything he says seems measured to produce the result of people thinking he's one of "the well spoken ones". He has no personality, but I think he's a pretty good communicator in terms of the media. |

As long as we're here, I don't know him to be lazy, either. I suppose he could play more golf than, say, Steve Spurrier, but even that wouldn't be a deciding factor for me, personally. And finally, I don't know that he was unqualified and hired as part of some kind of affirmative action, either. Seemed qualified to me. Stats are always fun. The Top Ten programs in NCAA football have played some 1200 seasons between them. None has ever lost 10 games in 1 season. Ever.

[/ QUOTE ] Can't believe how bad Ty's guys are. Historically bad. [/ QUOTE ] And before someone points it out, obviously teams usually don't play 12 games, and didn't always play 11. It's more interesting than meaningful, but still, this is epically awful. Either Charlie Weis is just the unluckiest man alive or he's not a good coach, at all, since no decent coach ever winds up with this kind of talent and a team this bad. Occam's Razor says... |

Duke's a tough up and coming program that is going to present real problems for the Irish. Why don't they play army this year?
