Wow, we rock....Great comeback but I'm sick & tired of our anti-clutch hitting when it really matters.

Mets giving us every opportunity to be right with them, not to mention we should be leading the WC.

I still think this team can make something happen down the stretch. Edgar is playing as well as he has in his career, same with Chipper, Andrue's power #'s are OK, but he's been in the game for a long time, and 10+ years > 100 games for a sample size. I think he will pick it up down the stretch and perform more like the .270 AVG 40 homer 120 RBI type guy he has been for years. If Francouer, McCann, and Kelly Johnson continue to be solid contributers, this is a potent offense to say the least. They also have a solid group of guys providing incredible contributions in limited play like Saltamaccia and Harris.

There is no denying that the Braves can be dangerous in the playoffs with Smoltz and Hudson at the top of the rotation. Chuck James is having a pretty good year so far, and seems to improve a little the more experiance he gets. If Davies and the 5th starter of the day can provide some quality starts they should win a lot of games down the stretch. The bullpen is a touchy subject, as usual for the Braves. Moylan has looked great, and despite Soriano's merely above avg ERA, I feel like he has pitched very well this season too. I like this team, I like their chances, the Mets have a lot of talent, the Dodgers are playing pretty good baseball, but I like the Braves chances of making the playoffs this year.

I really do too, unfortunately the Mets and any of the WC teams could really heat up. As long as we stay in it(a bit closer would be nice), I like our chances when we play the Mets and Phillies. We just need to stop sucking in the mean time.

Tex to Atlanta deal appears to be done according to Buster Olney on ESPNNews, fwiw.

Smoltz is getting battered around early

I swear, is it just variance? They hit every mistake out, we can't hit any mistake consistently.

Well, if Smoltz goes down it won't matter. He doesn't look right today.

Yeah, looks just like one of those days where he can't get it going. Fortunately he's never bad enough where he will just outright lose a game for us. If we could ever get some momentum going with the bats...

I think his shoulder is pretty wrecked, and he's pitching through it. Only reason I would hesitate going crazy trying to win this year.
